Brighter Life Hypnosis

Re-programming the Mind

A human mind and belief system is a lot like a computer system.  We have a subconscious operating system that records, stores, processes, and organizes everything we take in.  It selectively uses that information as it faithfully runs all our programs, algorithms, and apps.  And like any complex system that keeps growing, patches and little upgrades have been constantly needed to keep getting the results we want.  But over time old programs no longer meet our changing needs for growth – they become outdated.  And all the quick fixes and mini-corrections build up, causing problems of their own, that hold us back.  We get stuck.  So that every once in a while we’re better off writing a whole new version.  And sometimes, we’re better off doing a complete overhaul, and cleaning out all the old programs.

The process of modern clinical hypnosis is a lot like clearing out old programming, and upgrading to a whole new version of you.  Just 3-6 sessions is all it takes to overhaul your system, eliminate the blocks that hold you back, and finally allow you to create the brighter life you want.

For the benefit of others, one client has described it well from the perspective of a computer programmer.

Life Lessons from Coding

You write a bunch of code. You pray to God it works. Some of the code is kind of weak, lazyish. You knew for those weaker lines that the code might not work, but it was a lot easier to write it this way.  Sometimes you don’t even know you got it wrong.

So you finish your first draft of the code. You think to yourself, “I literally only care that this code runs and that it works. Technique be damned.”

You run your code. Fingers crossed.

The code probably doesn’t work, and if it does, it probably breaks once you move past a few of the simpler test cases.

So you grumble and go back to your code.

You dig and you dig, and eventually, you find the part that needs to be fixed. It’s a pain in the ass, but eventually the lightbulb goes off. You are hit with some kind of illumination. And you reap the rewards. For every future iteration of the code, this line is going to run way better. You’ve done things right. You’ve smoothed out a kink.

And life is just the same.

We go about our lives with a set of beliefs and habits, patterns of thought and action. We don’t care if they were built properly – often we don’t even know we got it wrong; we just go through life praying to God that they will work.

We pray that things will work out, and that we won’t have to change any of our “code.”

But life works much like a programming language. Bad habits will inevitably lead to “errors” – a bumpy ride.

Why are we so hesitant to change? Why are we so hesitant to lay the proper groundwork? Why are we so afraid of our most painful moments, instead of celebrating them as a chance to fix our bad habits and wrong thinking?

So I say embrace the bumps in life. They are pointing to your broken lines of code. Be willing to dig a little deeper and fix unhelpful patterns. Be willing to set the proper groundwork. The illumination will be exquisite, and from that point on your life will reap the benefits.
